Harlescott House
Hello, and welcome to Harlescott House. I'm proud to lead a team who take the time to truly understand each child how they communicate, what helps them feel calm, and what makes them light up. Our home is a place where children feel safe, accepted and free to be themselves, and where small steps are celebrated every day. I'd love to welcome you and show you what makes Harlescott special.

About Harlescott House
Harlescott House is a six-bed home in Shrewsbury for children and young people with learning disabilities and communication differences, many of whom are non-verbal. Set in a large property within extensive outdoor grounds, the home offers calm indoor spaces and outdoor room to move, explore and regulate. Care follows a therapeutic, relationship-based model that treats behaviour as communication using a total communication approach (visual supports, objects of reference and consistent cues), low-arousal environments and KIT-trained, least-restrictive practice to reduce distress before it escalates. With high staffing ratios, personalised routines and access to education, we help children experience predictability, safety and trusted relationships and over time, greater engagement, calmer transitions and real growth in communication and confidence.
Children who require a structured, low-arousal and highly consistent environment, many of whom are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication, with needs relating to emotional regulation, sensory processing and behaviour.
