Welcome to our schools

Welcome to VAL's Community, where every child is supported to feel safe, valued and ready to thrive. Guided by our SHINE values, we create nurturing school environments in which children and young people can grow in confidence, develop independence and experience success in ways that are meaningful to them.

We are specialists in SEND and ALN independent schools, with a strong commitment to meeting the individual needs of every learner. Our approach combines high expectations, personalised support and a deep understanding of the importance of belonging, wellbeing and tailored provision. We work in partnership with families, professionals and communities to help each child access the right environment, the right support and the right opportunities to flourish.

Multi-disciplinary by design. Our schools work closely with Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists and Speech & Language Therapists, delivering the specialist EQUALS curriculum alongside an adapted National Curriculum so learning is meaningful, accessible and aspirational.

Our approach, vision & curriculum

Our approach

Our Ofsted- and Estyn-registered schools provide full-time specialist education for children with SEND and ALN. We welcome both day pupils and children living in our homes, ensuring a joined-up, consistent and highly personalised experience that builds self-esteem, independence and life skills.

Our vision

To make a lasting difference by helping children develop the social, independence and educational skills to fulfil their aspirations. Teachers and therapists work as one because when children feel safe, nurtured, included, happy and empowered, they learn with confidence and curiosity.

Unique, bespoke education

Full-time learning in small group settings with specialist teaching and strong relationships. Pupils follow the EQUALS curriculum alongside an adapted National Curriculum, and achieve recognised outcomes through AQA Unit Awards, ASDAN, NCFE Functional Skills and Arts Award.

Improving pupils' experiences

Through strong relationships, therapeutic support and a curriculum tailored to each child, we help pupils develop confidence, resilience, communication and independence enjoying learning, celebrating achievement and making meaningful progress.
